You must co-operate with any reasonable request an inspector makes. Inspectors are there to ensure that you and your employer are making reasonable efforts to comply with the regulations.
The Inspector may check:
- your training certificate
- the shipping document to ensure it's correct and complete
- all dangerous goods are marked and labelled correctly
- the proper containers have been used
- placards are used, if necessary
- all dangerous goods being transported are loaded and secured safely
Failing to obey the TDG Regulations can vary from fines to jail time.
The President down to part-time employees can be charged.
To avoid any problems, it's best to ensure "due diligence" (make every effort to comply with the Regulations).
