Supervisor Responsibilities
The Supervisor is the one who brings it all together and sees that the company's health and safety program is implemented. Some job sites have designated health and safety supervisors, but they can only be in one place at a time. The real key to the success of a health and safety program is you... the foreperson, superintendent, crew chief, etc. You are responsible to see that acts and conditions on the worksite are standard. Safe job procedures on the worksite will minimize the chance of accidents/incidents happening. You work with management and your crew to see that they all do their part.
  1. Supervisors' responsibilities are to:

    1. Promote health and safety awareness through hazard assessments.

    2. Establish a safe work plan.

    3. Instruct worker of - "the safe way".

    4. Reinforce safe behaviour.

    5. Detect troubled employees.

    6. Correct substandard acts and conditions.

    7. Inspect for hazards.

    8. Enforce safety rules.

    9. Ensure proper equipment and tools use and maintenance.

    10. Investigate all accidents/incidents.

    11. Comply with legislation.

    12. Set a good example.
