Hot work permits must be obtained whenever welding/cutting activities are to be carried out in a restricted area.
- Area must be checked for gas prior to any welding/cutting activities
- When welding in a hazardous area, a safety watch with fire extinguishers must be monitoring the work
- Hazards to consider:
- Ultraviolet radiation
- Fire / explosion
- Exposure to toxic gases / fumes / dusts
