Select the proper tool for the task at hand.
- Inspect tools and equipment prior to each use. If damage is noticed, do not use the tool. Tag it and report the deficiency.
- Only use the tool for the purpose it was intended and be aware of all safe working practices.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Do not carry sharp or pointed tools in pockets.
- Use appropriate PPE for the hazards of the tools/ equipment and tasks.
- Workers should never use tools or equipment they are not qualified or properly trained to use.
- Some tools or equipment require certification to use.
