Inspection Purposes
An inspection should achieve several purposes:
  1. Identify existing and potential hazards.
  1. Identify safety code violations.
  1. Determine underlying causes of hazards.
  1. Monitor hazard controls.
  1. Determine corrective action to minimize or eliminate hazards.
  1. Reinforce and promote safe work practices.
A good inspection program is essential to maintaining safety on the worksite. However, it should be seen (by you and especially by your employees) as a fact-finding rather than a fault-finding exercise. It should be designed as a regular part of supervision and maintenance, with proper records being kept.
